What I am working on and thinking about at the moment
This is a now page: a snapshot of my current focus rather than a complete record. It is updated every so often — the date above is the last time I touched it.
Research
- Continuing as a research associate at the University of Rome Tor Vergata, working on remote monitoring systems for species at risk of extinction.
- Developing the next generation of the T.A.Co. tracking system — smaller, cheaper, and able to report physiological as well as positional data.
- Analysing data from the M.A.C.R.A. pilot on recovering cardiac and respiratory rates from inertial sensors.
Writing
- Several manuscripts in review and in preparation — the current state of all of them is on the publications page.
- Occasional longer posts on the blog, usually about R, data wrangling, or something that went wrong in the field.
Reading & learning
- Keeping up with the quickly moving literature on genomics of small populations.
- Improving my Quarto and R workflow — this site is part of that experiment.
Away from the desk
- Photography, mostly of reptiles and of places that are hard to get to. Some of it ends up in the gallery.
