My name is Giuliano Colosimo. Born in 1985 and raised in Rome (IT). I moved to the US in 2011 to accomplish my doctoral studies. In December 2016 I got my PhD in Biological Sciences at Mississippi State University.
I am currently working as a PostDoc fellow for the Institute of Conservation Research at San Diego Zoo Global, San Diego (California). Part of my project is on the conservation of Galápagos Pink Land Iguanas (Conolophus marthae). For this project I am collaborating with colleagues from the University of Rome “Tor Vergata” and, since I am originally from Rome, I am currently based in the eternal city.
I always been passionate about Biology. For my career I wanted to do something that would allow me to combine both field and lab work. That is why I became interested in Conservation and Evolutionary Genetics.
After my master I was lucky enough to start working with Iguanas. Besides the fact that I consider them fascinating creatures, they persist in remote and fantastic islands. This allows me to travel a lot and conduct field work in some of the most amazing places on this planet.
